《藍(lán)登傳》中藍(lán)登的身份雙重性研究

托比亞斯·斯末萊特的小說處女作《藍(lán)登傳》(1748)被認(rèn)為是一部帶有自傳體性質(zhì)的流浪漢小說。斯末萊特在《藍(lán)登傳》中用十分寫實(shí)的文筆從一個(gè)蘇格蘭人的角度將18世紀(jì)英國(guó)最濃墨重彩的兩個(gè)主戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)(倫敦和海外)描繪得淋漓精致。本文擬以社會(huì)身份認(rèn)同理論為基點(diǎn),研究蘇格蘭和英格蘭合并初期以藍(lán)登為代表的蘇格蘭人的身份雙重性。本文通過分析得出藍(lán)登具有雙重身份:作為蘇格蘭人的民族身份以及作為英國(guó)人的政治身份。一方面,根據(jù)泰弗爾和特納所提出的社會(huì)身份認(rèn)同理論,斯特茨和伯克認(rèn)為一個(gè)社會(huì)身份的認(rèn)同會(huì)經(jīng)歷三個(gè)階段,即社會(huì)歸類,社會(huì)比較以及積極區(qū)分。這三個(gè)過程在藍(lán)登身上得到了體現(xiàn)。藍(lán)登受到來自英格蘭人文化心理上的固有偏見,被英格蘭人歸為蘇格蘭人這個(gè)群體,而后藍(lán)登主體意識(shí)增強(qiáng),將蘇格蘭人與英格蘭人和愛爾蘭人做比較,最后產(chǎn)生對(duì)蘇格蘭人這個(gè)群體的積極區(qū)分和群體偏好心理,最終形成了對(duì)蘇格蘭民族身份的認(rèn)同。另一方面,藍(lán)登從進(jìn)入倫敦開始就對(duì)加入英國(guó)政府,并成為其中一員抱有極大熱情;而后又積極投身海外戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)以及海外殖民之中,成為了帝國(guó)事業(yè)的主力軍中的一員;藍(lán)登甚至公開辯論抨擊法國(guó)人對(duì)法國(guó)國(guó)王愚忠思想,為自己身為一名自由的英國(guó)人而驕傲...
