女性的重生:西爾維婭·普拉斯《鐘形罩》之疾病敘事解讀

西爾維婭·普拉斯(1932-1963)被認(rèn)為是美國(guó)當(dāng)代文學(xué)中著名的自白派詩(shī)人和小說(shuō)家。她的作品帶有強(qiáng)烈的精神分析色彩,深入洞察和表現(xiàn)了 20世紀(jì)中期美國(guó)父權(quán)制社會(huì)中女性的境遇。其自傳體小說(shuō)《鐘形罩》生動(dòng)展示了美國(guó)知識(shí)女性的精神困境。作為受壓迫的女性和被異化的精神病患者,主人公埃斯特用第一人稱視角敘事,為讀者呈現(xiàn)了精神病患者眼中別樣的世界和其所承受的雙重精神壓力。本文擬從疾病敘事的角度研究埃斯特精神疾病的本質(zhì)、源起,挖掘文本中普拉斯所隱含的女性重生的啟示。首先,論文借助亞瑟·弗蘭克的疾病敘事模型對(duì)小說(shuō)進(jìn)行文本分析,發(fā)現(xiàn)埃斯特在自我意識(shí)的模式和變化趨勢(shì)上表現(xiàn)出的與疾病敘事的相同之處。埃斯特的這些疾病敘事特征表明其精神疾病實(shí)質(zhì)上是對(duì)父權(quán)制社會(huì)和主流“健全社會(huì)”雙重壓迫所做出的反應(yīng)。此外,本文還從疾病敘事理論視域探討這部小說(shuō)的開(kāi)放式結(jié)尾,以期對(duì)小說(shuō)的“重生”主題獲得更深刻的認(rèn)知。這一部分通過(guò)分析埃斯特精神疾病的原因,重點(diǎn)論述埃斯特是通過(guò)重建作為女性和健全人的主體性、抗?fàn)幧鐣?huì)對(duì)精神疾病的畸形建構(gòu)以及追尋專業(yè)的醫(yī)學(xué)權(quán)威來(lái)實(shí)現(xiàn)女性的重生。
