《絳紅雪白的花瓣》中另類維多利亞人的情欲研究

本論文主要運用與欲望相關(guān)的理論,以另類維多利亞人的性欲望作為切入點,探析英國作家米歇爾·法柏的新維多利亞小說《絳紅雪白的花瓣》。論文嘗試在19世紀70年代的維多利亞社會歷史語境下,關(guān)注小說中放縱的性欲、動搖的性欲和缺失的性欲。通過結(jié)合背景與文本分析揭示這一表象下的原因,及這些另類維多利亞人如何借助情欲應(yīng)對當時的維多利亞價值觀,本文將進一步揭示小說作者對這一維多利亞想象的態(tài)度。論文強調(diào),19世紀中后期,維多利亞社會功利主義和理性主義的盛行貶低了人類情感;科學(xué)的崛起沖擊著宗教地位,引發(fā)了信仰的混亂;房中天使與兩分領(lǐng)域價值取向下的社會角色極大地約束著女性。而這些維多利亞價值觀與教條深刻地影響了另類維多利亞人威廉、蘇格、亨利和艾格尼絲,在小說中以對性欲望的不同態(tài)度為表現(xiàn)。這些角色以情欲為手段,去應(yīng)對約束他們的維多利亞價值觀,或是妥協(xié),或是協(xié)商或是挑戰(zhàn),嘗試在困境中尋找一條出路。在小說中,性欲望是法柏的維多利亞想象中與維多利亞價值觀或教條妥協(xié)、協(xié)商與對抗的策略。作者通過這一想象,以非理性的角度反思與觀照理性價值,同時表達了對當代共有問題的思考。
