【摘要】：隨著國人財富的不斷累積,越來越多的人選擇移民美國,他們希望能夠在美國這片新的土壤中獲得新機(jī)遇、贏得新發(fā)展。而在申請移民的過程中,必不可少的是根據(jù)美國移民局的要求提交各類證明材料。由于兩國語言上的巨大差異,申請人提交的文件必須是中英雙語的,這樣便于對方移民官員的審核。美國移民申請涉及文件繁多,但到目前為止鮮有人關(guān)注這一領(lǐng)域的翻譯問題。本文基于筆者在國內(nèi)一家美國移民服務(wù)公司的翻譯實踐,在目的論的指導(dǎo)下,詳細(xì)分析總結(jié)了美國移民申請文件翻譯中遇到的問題,并嘗試提出行之有效的解決辦法。實踐報告指出,雖然美國移民申請文件種類繁多,但是在翻譯時,這些文件都統(tǒng)一于為移民申請服務(wù)這一目的,因而把握住翻譯這些文件的終極目的,就能夠把握該類申請文件的翻譯方法。例如,對于中國政治特色詞匯、短語亦或是句子的翻譯,為避免引起政治敏感,在翻譯成英語時,應(yīng)考慮省去。對于證明類文件如證書等頒發(fā)機(jī)構(gòu)的翻譯,也可考慮省略以獲得支持移民申請最理想的結(jié)果。美國移民申請文件中省份地點的省略現(xiàn)象,可通過增譯的方式將其具化,從而使目標(biāo)譯文更加清晰明了。此外,申請文件中還有一類無主語的句子,在翻譯時,需要將其隱藏主語找出,并通過增譯的翻譯方法將其呈現(xiàn),從而加強(qiáng)譯文的表現(xiàn)力,達(dá)到有力支撐移民申請這一目的。最后,中文中的數(shù)字縮略詞大都包含有豐富的內(nèi)容,在翻譯時,需要將這些隱含的內(nèi)容翻譯出來,以期達(dá)到最好的表達(dá)效果�？傊�,筆者通過確定翻譯文本的目的,剖析了美國移民申請文件在字詞和句子層面的翻譯問題,并在目的論的指導(dǎo)下,總結(jié)出了真實可行的翻譯技巧,如省略、增譯、解釋等。本篇實踐報告通過探討美國移民申請文件的翻譯技巧,希望對從事該類翻譯的譯者提供啟示與借鑒。
[Abstract]:With the accumulation of wealth, more and more people choose to emigrate to the United States, they hope to be able to get new opportunities in this new soil, to win new development. And in the process of applying for immigrants. It is essential to submit all kinds of supporting documents in accordance with the requirements of the United States Immigration Service. Due to the great differences in language between the two countries, the documents submitted by the applicant must be bilingual in Chinese and English. This facilitates the vetting of immigration officials on the other side. U. S. immigration applications involve a plethora of documents. However, so far, few people have paid attention to the translation problem in this field. This paper is based on the translation practice of an American immigration service company in China, under the guidance of Skopos theory. This paper analyzes and summarizes in detail the problems encountered in the translation of immigrant application documents in the United States, and tries to put forward effective solutions. The practice report points out that although there are many kinds of documents for immigration application in the United States, they are translated in the process of translation. These documents are unified for the purpose of serving the application of immigrants, so if we grasp the ultimate purpose of translating these documents, we will be able to grasp the method of translation of such documents. For example, for Chinese political terms. Phrase or sentence translation, in order to avoid causing political sensitivities, when translating into English, consideration should be given to the translation of attestation documents such as certificates. Ellipsis may also be considered in order to obtain the most desirable result in support of the immigration application. The omission of the location of the provinces in the United States immigration application document may be characterized by additional translation. In addition, there is a kind of sentence without subject in the application document. In translation, the hidden subject should be found out and presented by the method of adding translation. Finally, most of the Chinese numeral acronyms contain rich content, which need to be translated out in translation. In a word, the author analyzes the translation of American immigration application documents at the word and sentence level, and under the guidance of Skopos theory. This paper summarizes the practical translation techniques, such as ellipsis, incremental translation, interpretation, etc. This practical report aims to provide inspiration and reference to translators engaged in this kind of translation by exploring the translation techniques of American immigration application documents.
